O'Reilly's forthcoming book Essential Blogging is up for public review! You can download 9 of the 10 chapters as PDFs. The book mainly covers the ins and outs of the major players in blogging software. So it might be a bit less relevant to those of us who roll-our-own, but with bloggers like Rael Dornfest and Cory Doctorow contributing there's bound to be one or two chapters worth a read. Which clumsily segues into the fact that Wiley Wiggins is currently guest blogging over at bOingbOing.

I just had a flick through the PDFs, looks nice for the beginer but like you say its a shame there isn't a bit more info for the rool-your-own blogger. I came across a glossy book in PCWorld a few months back which was almost a textbook on how to create Pixelised, going into mySQL, PHP and CSS. Its a shame they didn't include more of this stuff.

That should of course have read 'Roll-Your-Own'.
