Version Tracker Plus

VersionTracker.com has today launched a new subscription service called Version Tracker Plus. For an annual fee of $19.95 the subscriber gets access to a range of features includeing personalised watch lists and the abillity to toggle Ads on and off. One of the listed features i find a little odd however is the 'view previous days software', you can already do this through the standard website so lets hope they arent going to start reducing the functionality of the normal service in a bid to win your subscription.

  • Good luck to them if they've fallen on hard times, although they're already pretty laden with ads so I'm not sure how strapped for cash they must be. If I were them though I'd be a bit careful. Their idea is good but the implementation leaves something to be desired in terms of speed, cleanliness of interface, etc.

As far as I can make out update info is provided by the developers themselves rather than being actively tracked down by the versiontracker people. If anyone wanted to usurp their crown it'd be a fairly simple matter as long as they could get the word around.
