Ask Dr. Universe

The font of all knowledge, funny too!

From: "Here in Brasil we ask 4 french bread. I would like 2 know if in French they ask 4 french bread or just bread.?". To: "I was just wondering what "bozons" are. I heard they were some type of (subatomic?) particle or something, just wondering how they are different from, say, quarks or something..."

At $400 you may be getting what you pay for, but the fact of the matter is no matter how sexy Apple's new mp3 player come hard-drive is it just costs too much..

Adding and Subtracting

I know it's not the type of thing we normally have on here, but this pair of identical twins with an arty prediliction for hardcore surgery have to be seen to be believed. Ryan and Dave could easily be a photoshop hoax, but I have a nasty feeling they're all too real. If ever there was a warning against body-modification this is it. (nb: there is one gore photo but the rest are end-results )

Joy of X

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." F. Bueller (1986)..

Sorry about the lack of posts around here for the last week. We've both been upgrading our Macs to OSX.1 and have been occupied with "finger trouble".. Matt's modem has been knocked out altogether and my system has decided to block me from this, my own site, if I connect through my usual ISP..

Anyway normal service will be resumed soon, so please bear with us :)

Mapping The Un-Mappable

Martin Dodge and Rob Kitchin are co-authors of "The Atlas of Cyberspace". The book aims to render in two dimensions a world which arguably doesn't even exist in 3. Wired have some sample images from the book, and Martin Dodge has a collection of cyberspace maps on his own site, Cybergeography.org.
