The tales people tell, Microsoft are going to have to be a bit more subtle than this if they're aiming to get the Xbox hype rolling..

I can't remember if I mentioned this in another post... but CVG said that they called Toys'R'Us and asked them about this... the number remained undisclosed but they said they'd sold out of preorders for PS2 (back in the day) in 23 SECONDS!
Yeah, nice one Microsoft! Give yourselves a nice big pat on the back. I wouldn't be surprised if they bought the machines themselves too. It would make sense for them to create a bit of hype about themselves in this way.
And for the record, GBA sold out preorders in a similar time to Xbox too (according to CVG's interview with Toys'R'Us.com).
I have no idea how Barnes and Noble managed to sell out that $1000 package though... some people must just be deluded. If you've got $1000 to burn, buy a PC ferchrissake!
