Final Fantasy XI Goes Multiplatform

SquareSoft's Hironobu Sakaguchi reveals to Gamespot that Final Fantasy XI the next edition of their long running RPG series will be multiplatform due to its online nature. Gamespot seem to think that the game will be making an appearance on Gamecube, but this seems very unlikely due to the bad blood between Nintendo and Square. If it does though, could this mean a re-emergence of one of the greatest partnerships in gaming history..

  • Anyone know when the FF movie's out? There's a "coming soon" poster for it up outside the Leeds Odeon, but I've barely seen any publicity for it.

And while I'm on the subject of CG stuff, has anyone seen the Starship Troopers series at all? I saw it on Sky One this morning and was pretty impressed by how good it was. Seems like Toy Story was only yesterday and now there's tv series' with similar production values.

  • Have you seen the trailers for the FF movie, it looks fantastic. I think this may be the Akira of the CG world.. It looks like the fantastic epic story telling Square are famous for may have translated really well to the big screen.
I dont get why its pure Sci-Fi though when FF is usually more of a Fantasy or Steampunk feel to it..

  • Only thing I've seen is some stills in a magazine and the poster (which is pretty poor I might add).

  • Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - July 11 2001

It looks shit hot, like a trippy "Kubrikian" version Aliens.. Mind you the trailer only gives a brief glimpse into the movie.. The facial animation is amazing and I dont think it would take to big a leap of the imagination to forget you weren't watching real actors..

The trailer is on one of the recent big DVD releases too, I'll try and remeber which one..
